What kind of home should I buy in Dubai?

I've been thinking about buying a place in Dubai, but I still haven't settled on what kind of home would suit me. I don't really see myself living in an apartment, mainly because I'd like my own entrance and at least a little outdoor space. A villa sounds much more appealing, but I keep assuming the price will be too high. What other types of homes are available, and where can I look at real prices?

A villa doesn't automatically mean one of those enormous homes you see on the Palm. Prices change a lot by community, and smaller villas farther from the coast can fall into a completely different price bracket. For a quick reality check, Property Finder is worth opening because it shows current asking prices next to the size and bedroom count. Pull up a few areas and you'll get a better idea of whether a villa is actually out of reach.

You're probably looking for a townhouse, to be honest. You get your own entrance, more room, and usually some outdoor space, while the price often comes in below a comparable detached villa. You can look at townhouses in Dubai here:
https://atvir.com/uae/residential-complexes/townhouse . Prices are shown next to the size and bedroom count, so you can see what you're getting for the money. You can also filter by location and price before opening individual listings.
